Chris and Kym, Handfasting at Newcastle Castle

Newcastle Castle bride

Chris and Kym like so many other couples waited a long time for their Newcastle Castle wedding due to the pandemic. Originally booked for 2020, it was then postponed until May 2021, and again until May 2022. A Medieval meets Lord of the Rings theme saw all their guests arriving wearing Medieval, fantasy or Viking outfits, and they all looked incredible.

Themed Wedding in Newcastle’s Castle Garth

Chris the Groom and his Best Man Charlie looked at home within the Medieval walls of Newcastle’s Castle Garth in their themed outfits. Both had a sword firmly secured to their sides and a smaller version was carried by their daughter who also wore themed clothing and was kept occupied by a tiger balloon.

Kym entered to music from Lord of the Rings, escorted by her proud dad Martin who was wearing Viking themed clothing Kym looked amazing in her beautiful ethereal bespoke gown made by Silver Rose Corsetry. She wore an eye catching headdress, and her flowers were created by Paper Jackdaw. Her Bridesmaids wore floor length matching black gowns.

Celebrant led wedding ceremony

Their themed ceremony was created and performed by Celebrant Ellie from Alternative Ceremonies UK and included a handfasting with their parents placing the different coloured ribbons. Their daughter was included in the ceremony, and Kym and Chris made a bond to her as well as to each other. Poems were read by Best Man Charlie and Bridesmaid Becky. Chris and Kym read out their own vows and took part in a mead ceremony.

Their unique glow in the dark rings from BeeMoreYou arrived in a specially created Tree of Life ring box from The Most Special Day, and before they exchanged them their guests each gave the rings a blessing. A themed Lord of the Rings certificate was signed, and all took place in the shadow of their spectacular wedding cake, the majestic Minas Tirith fortress designed, baked and sculpted by the extremely talented Mel from Melanie’s Cakes.

After the ceremony, before the reception Kym announced a treasure quest with clues which saw their guests scatter around the castle trying to solve the clues. The reception included a hog roast from Pimp My Pig, sensational magic tricks from magician Graeme Shaw and face painting from The Face Paint Saint. On the evening as the sun started going down, Chris, Kym and their guests ascended to the roof where Dracarys put on a fantastic fire performance. An amazing display which complemented their wedding day theme.

A long wait for their special day to happen, but certainly a memorable day for Kym, Chris, their families and friends.
